“Really impressive class, thought provoking and helpful. I see the concepts that we’ve learned here changing the entire way we develop programs at the Nature Center.”

James Little’s Monarch tagging story.

In the 1990’s, James worked with Fred Urquhart from the University of Toronto tagging Monarchs in the state of Delaware while working as a Nature Center Manager in Delaware State Parks.

(Fred is famous for discovering the site of overwintering Monarchs in Mexico in 1976 through tagging, which he invented.)

After moving to Ohio and forming a non-profit to build a Nature Center, James tagged Monarchs in coordination with the Monarch Watch program at the University of Kansas. In 2002, he was fortunate to have two recoveries of tagged Monarchs in El Rosario, Mexico.

Today in Idaho, James is registered to tag Monarchs with Washington State University, which coordinates Monarch tagging west of the Rocky Mountains.

See the programs offered page for information on Monarch presentations available.
